PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Listen Buddy is one of the most delightful children's books that I have ever read. It teaches the children the importance of listening in a fun way! I misplaced my copy and had to order another one from Amazon. Here you will find a six-character Reader's Theater based on this wonderful book by Helen Lester.

Reader's Theaters promote reading fluency and reading with expression. They also help children practice their speaking skills.

Listen Buddy can be practiced in a reading group or in a reading center. When the boys and girls have mastered the script, they might like to present it to another class, the principal, or before an assembly. You might even invite the parents in to see the children perform Listen Buddy.

If you are not going to present the Reader's Theater and simply using it for reading practice and fluency, you may let the boys and girls switch characters after they have mastered their roles. They love doing this!

Reader's Theaters bring an excitement and love of reading into the classroom.

Please feel free to make any changes to the script that you would like in order to make it work best for your students and your classroom.

Have fun!

*I have also written one for The Night Before Easter, The Easter Egg by Jan Brett, and Little Bunny's Sleepless Night (a cute story in which a little bunny finds that sleeping at home is best of all). You could put your class in groups and have each group working on a different Reader's Theater!

I also have written one for Little Red Hot by Eric A. Kimmel. This is a delightful variation of Little Red Riding Hood in which Little Red Hot foils the wolf by feeding him a hot pepper pie!

Additionally, you will find The Gingerbread Cowboy on my site. This is a nine-character Reader's Theater based on the fun story by Janet Squires in which a gingerbread cowboy runs away.
