This is a fun, easy to use tool for a listening center to reinforce concepts such as setting, characters, front cover, title, author, etc. You can improvise a spinner with a brad and a paper clip, or you can use these very inexpensive and super easy to set up plastic spinners (just hot glue to the center):
School Specialty Plastic Game Spinners
(My class can’t have enough of these, they just love activities with spinners!)
It includes task cards (in case you don't want to deal with spinners). All you have to do is cut the cards apart, laminate them, and place them in a container (empty tissue boxes are great for this!). after listening to their story, student pick a card to work on the corresponding task.
Each task on the board (and cards) provides a picture clue to aid beginner readers. Once they are familiar with each task, they will be able to complete their assignment independently.
While I am including a recording sheet, it is optional. If you are trying to save on copies, students can use any paper to complete the tasks.
