This classroom-tested project will allow you to easily integrate Math and Science.
Students will explore using Excel to analyze data, integrating Science and Math with this project, enriching an investigation of the circulatory system.
Each student will create a double-bar graph to compare his/her own own pulse rate with the pulse rate of a partner.
Students will be encouraged to wonder…
Would the time of day and what we were doing affect our pulse rates?
Pulses will be taken and recorded within a table at different times during the course of a day, or over several days.
Students will practice how to change patterns and foreground colors within the bars of our graphs and review finding averages.
And, students will explore changing the interval on their graph scales, adjusting the fixed unit, to allow the data to be most easily read.
