Hello! Thank you for looking at Listen to the Directions and Help Santa Organize His Workshop!
For this lesson, students are required to listen to descriptions and directions containing spatial / linguistic concepts to place toys and Christmas items around Santa’s Workshop. The students must determine what is being described and determine the specific item. Students are additionally asked to repeat sentences or questions to develop morpho-syntactic skills and memory.
I have visited the North Pole in upstate New York with my children over the years and visiting Santa’s Workshop is one of my favorite things to do this time of the year. I wanted to bring some of the experience of Santa’s Workshop to my students this year and so I created this lesson. This lesson was designed to address auditory processing, sentence repetition, comprehension of descriptions and following direction skills, while engaged in having fun!
There are 24 items in the activity that the students need to complete to fill in each room of the his workshop. Once they have filled up the entire board and have organized the ‘workshop’, the can discuss where the items are placed and bring home their workshop to share!
