Hello! Thank you for looking at ‘Listen to the Directions and Help Penguin Pete Find His Dad The Emperor Penguin’ – A Language Lesson Designed to Develop Auditory Processing and Comprehension Skills by Following Directions, Sentence Repetition, Identifying Items Through Descriptions and Vocabulary Development Around an Arctic Animal / Antarctica Theme!
In this lesson, the students are required to listen to information stated by particular arctic animals or penguins and restate what the animal said to develop morpho-syntactic sentence production. In addition, directions containing spatial concepts to place manipulative pieces to complete two scenes of The Arctic Tundra and Antarctica are provided to complete the directives. Vocabulary cards reviewing the 7 arctic animals and the penguin are provided as an initial review.
There are 17 items in the activity that the students need to complete to place into either the Arctic Tundra Scene or Antarctica Scene. In order to do such, students must listen to descriptions and determine which animal is being described. Then the students are read a sentence that is stated by one of the animals to develop sentence repetition skills and finally, the students must complete directions in the activity that contain a variety of linguistic concepts. Once they have completed the two scenes, they can take the pages or file folder home to share.
There are additionally 32 comprehension questions (4 for each arctic animal / penguin). They are varied to target the various ‘wh’ question targets. Students can use the fact cards provided if required. All of the questions are based on the information from the bio cards.
