A short listening activity and/or assessment designed for students in elementary music (K-2) to identify the different between quarter (ta) and eighth (titi) notes. Notes are presented in Kodaly notation.
Teacher claps and speaks one of the 2 rhythm choices for each number. Students circle the rhythm they hear. At the bottom, students may also finish a short 4 beat composition using ta or titi.
A quick (5 minute) activity or assessment to check for understanding or ta and titi rhythm patterns. Would be great as a pre-assessment.
