Product Description
Need a fun, creative and artistic way to engage and assess what your students hear as you study about (and play) musical examples from Handel’s Royal Fireworks, Water Music and/or Messiah? Use these scenic listening glyphs to enhance for your students what Handel’s purpose of writing the music was all about. Play a recording (not included) and have your students follow the color code key to assess what they hear. Items assessed in this set include:
Water Music
♬ “Minuet” (also listed as “Menuet”) – strings vs no strings, singing vs no singing, brass vs no brass, woodwinds vs no woodwinds)
♬ “Bouree” – strings vs no strings, singing vs no singing, woodwinds vs no woodwinds, loud vs soft vs loud & soft; loud vs quiet vs loud & quiet versions also included)
♬ “Alla Hornpipe” - strings vs no strings, percussion vs no percussion, brass vs no brass, loud vs soft vs loud & soft; singing vs no singing, loud vs quiet vs loud & quiet versions also included)
Royal Fireworks
♬ “La Rejouissance” - strings vs no strings, singing vs no singing, brass vs no brass, woodwinds vs no woodwinds, loud vs quiet vs loud & quiet versions also included )
♬ “Minuet II” (also listed as Menuet II) - strings vs no strings, singing vs no singing, brass vs no brass, woodwinds vs no woodwinds, ritard vs no ritard, soft vs loud & soft; quiet vs loud & quiet versions also included )
Messiah
“For Unto Us a Child is Born” - strings vs no strings, brass vs no brass, woodwinds vs no woodwinds, singing vs no singing, fast vs slow)
“Hallelujah Chorus” - strings vs no strings, brass vs no brass, woodwinds vs no woodwinds, singing vs no singing, loud vs loud & quiet, crescendo vs no crescendo; loud vs loud & quiet versions also included).

* Grades 1 & 2 should be able to handle the glyphs from Messiah. The listening gyphs for Water Music and Royal Fireworks will probably be too challenging for them. Crayons or colored pencils will work though the ones I colored for the preview were done using colored pencils.

Also included: copies of glyphs with general titles such as Water Music, Royal Fireworks and Messiah so you can use other songs from those suites and oratorio with these glyphs.)

The Royal Fireworks and Water Music come with two versions of font work. This offers choices to those of you who have more time with your students to be a little more artistic.

Please accept my apologies for the darkness in the preview pictures but the iPad does not have a flash.....
