This packet will give you a few more ideas rather than telling your students to 'sit up straight and listen'!
We have outlined an introductory mini-lesson to explicitly teach your little ones how to listen on the mat, in a very fun way.
To follow that up in class, there is a poster to display in your classroom outlining the 3 main parts to listening explained in the lesson.
We have included six fun finger/hand action rhymes that encourage your students to be settled on the mat and be ready to listen.
Use these posters to teach the rhymes, then use them daily as a strategy to settle and focus your students whenever you need.
We have written all the rhymes and you can devise very simple actions to go along with the words (e.g. 'hands clap').
The rhymes include:
- Busy Fingers
- The Hand Band
- Hands Are Busy
- On My Knees
- Wriggle Fingers
