While listening station is definitely fun for my students, I wanted to make it more meaningful and worthy of their time. I made these response sheets to do just that. These response sheets allow my students to consider what they have just read while practicing skills that they are working on in class. They are also differentiated for my students based on their needs (and ability level). As we progress throughout the year, my students work on different areas of literacy comprehension including:
- Story Elements (main characters, setting)
- Retelling (beginning, middle, and end)
- My Favorite Part
- Making Connections
- Problem & Solution
- Most Important Part
- Making Predictions
- Author’s Message
- Nonfiction Response
- Interesting Vocabulary
Within several of these literacy comprehension skills there are different response sheets that help to scaffold your students’ responses.
These sheets can be used in literacy stations, in a small group, or as a whole-class activity.
