Product Description
Thank you for purchasing my first volume of listening stories. As the Reading Speechie my passions in language therapy fall into literacy, language and listening. I wanted an activity that would keep my clients engaged in both listening and reading. That is how I came up with “Listening Stories”.

There are a few ways this product can be used in therapy.

Tell Me and Color:
Print off the coloring sheets only and have clients color in the art while talking about what they are coloring. For example, “I am coloring the barn red”.

Listening Comprehension:
Print off a coloring sheet for each client and the story for the therapist. As the therapist reads the story, the client colors the art to match the words of the therapist. Most stories only involve coloring although there are a couple that require some drawing. This is a time involved task and often take approximately 20 minutes or more to complete because they clients ask for repeats and need time to color. It is recommended that the story is not read quickly and the client is given time to complete the coloring.

Reading Comprehension:
Print off a coloring sheet for each client and the story for each client. Similar to the Listening Comprehension task only this time the client will read the story and complete the coloring sheet as they read. Make sure enough time is allotted so the coloring can be completed.

This activity can take more than one session. It is important to not rush the activity.

There are some areas that won’t be colored in at the end of the story, encourage the client to finish coloring the picture however they want.
