This listening and speaking assessment is a great diagnostic tool to be used as a formal assessment, group task, or open-resource activity. Opt to first use as formal assessment and later as a study guide/review. Question types vary from multiple choice, to written response, to dialogue completion, and as such, is a great indicator of English listening and speaking skill levels. Test results easily demonstrate a student's mastery of language skills, and can be used to support placement.
The test is set up to total 100 points, clearly stating point value of each question. Answer key to listenings provided. Grading and points earned is at the discretion of the teacher. When photocopying, point values can be adjusted with whiteout and pen. Answer key included. For best results, print with 1'' margins.
All listening videos are found on YouTube via included links in the Answer Key (clickable within the PDF). Listenings can also be accessed via the ESL Marketplace YouTube playlist found here: ESL Marketplace L/S YouTube Playlist
This assessment covers:
-Part 1 Listening: 5 featured listening sections with varied question forms (multiple choice, t-chart, true/false)
-Part 2 Questions: Open response questions on general topics like, "What is a good listener"
-Part 3 Multiple Choice and Fill in: Multiple choice questions on IPA, context, and fill-in a dialogue conversation and presentation tips chart
Test was designed to be used in ESL/EFL/IEP/Adult/International classrooms as a means of evaluating language level skill set. I have used this as a semester final exam, as well as, a course diagnostic exam.
