This is the fifth installment in a series of units designed to guide students in acquiring the language related to school and classroom. It has a cultural focus on Central America. Students practice speaking about the classroom and the school, using sentence structures like hay, está en, es, etc. in conjunction with school vocabulary. This teaching unit includes carefully selected images to convey meaning, speaking, writing and listening activities and (printable) assessments, a package for a group activity, playing cards and a worksheet to prepare a video about the school. Everything has detailed teaching notes and I include a page with suggestions for further games/activities. It also has a section to compare schools in Central America and the United States. The pages follow a logical teaching order that will guide you through the unit. The unit is aligned to the new FL standards (included), at the novice high level.
