We have 90 minute literacy blocks and students are all over the place. I needed a way to organize where they need to be and what they are doing.
I created a "game" for them to complete by the end of the week. They need to complete "May Do" activities after "Must Do's" are done. When they complete the activity, they record it on a Tic Tac Toe square.
I also created staple station activities that they can choose from each day. Some of them like partner reading and writing are stations they should do more than 1 time each week.
After gradually explaining this system, students had less questions, transitions were smoother, and grading work was also easier. See if it works for you.
