While most nouns are easily made plural with a few simple changes, such as adding an ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the end of the word, there is one group of nouns that doesn’t seem to follow the rules. They’re called irregular nouns because they don’t become plural the “regular” way.
Usually, when a word ends in 'f' or 'fe' we change the 'f' to 'v' and add 'es' or 's' to make it plural.
This butterfly themed center allows students to practice this rule by choosing the correct plural for words ending with ‘f’ or ‘fe.’ After the students complete the hands on portion of this center, they will record their results on a worksheet that can be turned into their teacher for accountability.
