Students LOVE creativity. When studying direct and indirect characterization, they can sometimes understand the concepts better when they use them to create their own character! At this literacy center, students create their own character by coming up with things that the character does, thinks, says, and what others say about them. They also get to design the appearance of their character! Then they use their indirect characterizations to write a direct characterization in a paragraph! This can be used as an independent learning center, a group literacy center, or through direct instruction.
