Can't the kids see the blue word without the decoder?
Not necessarily. MOST of the 4-7 year old children that I've tested this product with CANNOT easily read the hidden words without the decoder. There are a few that enjoyed the challenge of figuring out the secret behind this activity and eventually could figure the word out without the decoder, although it took them a considerable amount of effort to read the word through all of the red letters surrounding it. Most ADULTS can read the words without the decoder making it easy for the teacher to check answers and sort the cards without much difficulty.
ATTENTION: This activity MUST be printed in COLOR to work properly. You will also need to MAKE or PURCHASE a RED filter decoder of some type - A template for making a decoder window from dollar store materials is included as well a variety of ideas for purchasing a RED filter decoder.
KEYWORDS: cvc words, segmenting, blending, spelling, reading, spy, detective, secret message, detective, red filter, decoder, decoding window, red cellophane, red glasses, red blue, hidden message, color the room, write the room, differentiated
