I am trying out a new Literacy Center for my 2nd graders, half listening station, half writing about reading, 100% engaging independent differentiated work!
This 2 sided page can be slipped in a page protector and be used group after group, year after year. There are 2 QR codes, one to read the book, and one for directions about how to complete the minilesson/write about reading. My kids LOVE scanning these codes. Each code is a ShowMe (super fun little videos that are already made for you!) I love keeping the picture book with the literacy center if possible so they can read along (they are often my whole class read alouds that week.)
The full read aloud can be listened to with the volume off, if they don't want to have it read to them. The "How To" ShowMe gives precise directions and examples. My students love using these, they can pause them, or rewatch them. It's like having their own personal teacher!
Don't waste any worksheets - just print off one or two of these and have awesome reader response journals every week!
