This product contains five literacy centers for upper elementary students. I use literacy centers during one of my guided reading rotations. This rotation is about 20 minutes long. Students visit a different station each day. (During the second 20 minute rotation, students read independently.)
The literacy centers included are:
Fact and Opinion Sort - students read facts and opinions about extending the school day/school year and sort the ideas as fact or opinion. Then students write three facts and three opinions about their classroom. Third grade students might find this task challenging because of the level of the language.
Too, Two, To Confusing - students read sentences that are missing a frequently confused word (it's/its, your/you're, there/their/they're and too/to/two). Students write the sentence correctly on their recording sheet.
Editing Station - students correct sentences that are missing capitalization and punctuation. This center does not address spelling.
Apostrophe Practice - students identified an underlined word within a sentence as a possessive or plural noun. Students write a sentence with a possessive and another sentence with a plural noun.
Nouns - students read sentences and classify nouns as common or proper.
All centers come with answer keys and recording sheets. These stations would look best printed in color, but the recording sheets photocopy very well.
