January Center Literacy Games: Print, laminate and cut all cards and pieces to the centers.
Penguin Picture (CVC) & Word Match Game: Children can play in partners, small group or by self matching the snowflake picture with the word on the penguin. Children place the snowflake on the penguin’ when they have a match.. You can choose certain vowel sounds in the game or use all cards at once.
Penguin Sight Word Game: Copy Penguin cards on cardstock and laminate . Two types of games that students match the sight word cards.
Snowmen Make a Word Game: Children take an snowflake (consonant & consonant blends are provided) and put it in front of a word chunk snowman to make a word. Children can write word on paper or white board or use one of the 8 worksheets to go with this activity.
Snowman CVC Word Game Directions:: Students insert vowels snowmen onto line on the word cards and make words. Students can write words on white boards or paper. They may also use the Make A Word worksheets included in resource.

Penguin Slide Addition & Subtraction : (2 different games) Children begin at start positon on board and take turns rolling one die. If they are adding they will begin on number 1 and slide down that many spaces as the die indicates. If they are subtracting they start on number 20 and move up the board, subtracting the number on the die. First person to get to the finish line wins!
Penguin Roll & Cover: (2 different games) One Dice Roll: Roll one die and count your dots. Cover the number of dots you rolled with your marker. Two players will need to use two different colors. Covering the most numbers wins!

Snowflakes Ten Frame Mats Match Game: Print and laminate the cards so students can place the correct number of snowflakes on the ten frames that corresponds with the numeral on the page and also practice writing the numerals with markers. The snowflakes template are provided, but you may use snowflake manipulates if you have them.
Snowman 5 In A Row: Children roll 2 dice and cover the sum. If the sum is not open, it is their partners turn. The person who covers 5 in a row first wins! The Snowman in the middle is a free space!
