Depending on the activity, prep may include printing on copy paper or cardstock, laminating, cutting and putting together materials for the number of students that you have. Directions to all activities are on a center game sheet.

Literacy Center Games
Whale Beginning Sound Letter Match Game:
Children match the pictures the beginning sound letter. Memory Game: Children can play this by placing the cards face down in rows. They take turns turning two cards over to see if the whale letter and sound match. If it does they keep both cards, if not they turn the cards back over and the next child has a turn. The person who has the most matches wins the game.
Ocean Real & Nonsense Word Sort:
Children place cards face down and take turns drawing a card. Student reads words and decides whether it is a real word or nonsense words. Child checks with partner or group to make sure he/she is accurate. Child writes or places words on t-chart on white board or use sheet provided in this resource (each student may have a sheet or you could use one sheet for the whole game). The next person takes a turn. Play until all cards have been used.
Ocean Word Game:
Students insert vowels ocean animals (a, e, i, o & u) onto line on the word cards and make words. Students can write words on white boards or paper. They may also use the Make A Word worksheets included in this resource.
Ocean & Beach Short Vowel Sounds Roll It! Read It!
Words & Sentences: Two types of game cards with short vowel sounds words and sentences. Each game card has all the vowel sound words and sentences on the game card. There are10 game cards in total. Students roll one dice and read the words or sentences in the row they have rolled.
Math Center Games
Beach Ten Frame Match:
Use these ten frame mats with students to help them with their one-to-one correspondence, counting skills and ten frame use. Print and laminate the cards so students can place the correct number of floating kids on the ten frames that corresponds with the numeral on the page and also practice writing the numerals with markers. The floating kids template are provided, but you may use any manipulate you want.
Ocean & Fish Addition & Subtraction Slide:
(2 different games) Children begin at start positon on board and take turns rolling one die. If they are adding they will begin on number 1 and slide down that many spaces as the die indicates. If they are subtracting they start on number 20 and move up the board, subtracting the number on the die. First person to get to the finish line wins!
Beach Roll & Cover Games :
(2 different games): One Dice Roll:
4 game cards. Roll one die and count your dots. Cover the number of dots you rolled with your marker. Two players will need to use two different colors. Covering the most numbers wins! Two Dice Roll:

5 In A Row Two & Three Addend Addition:
Children roll 2 or 3 dice and cover the sum. If the sum is not open, it is their partners turn. The person who covers 5 in a row first wins! The picture in the middle is a free space! There are 4 game cards for each type of game, total of 8 cards..
