Literacy Night is a great way to get your families involved in reading together at home, Why not kick off this trend with a fun and engaging night at school, while focusing on some amazing literacy activities? This packet is not intended to be an entire "Literacy Night in a Box", however is intended to supplement your already great ideas, giveaways, and school traditions. Enclosed you will find several different activities which are differentiated, broken down by early elementary and upper elementary ability levels,

Included you will find the following activities:

⭐Students Interview their Parents/Chaperones

⭐Parents Interview their Children

⭐Drawing a Profile of a Reader- Incorporating the Information from the Interviews into the drawings
⭐Literacy Night Scavenger Hunt- Looking for information from the print rich walls of your school

In addition to the above activities, we have had many additional activities throughout the years at our Literacy Nights such as the following:

⭐We funded and gave away books, one per student per night just for attending.
⭐We've done a "Book Walk" (Similar to a "Cake Walk") Students walk around a circle of books while listening to music. When the music stops, the students get to pick a book that they are standing beside.
⭐We have offered special guest readers from our Board Offices, parent volunteers, teachers, etc.

So be as creative as you would like!
