PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Now Editable! Involve parents as you head Back to School! Parents want to help their child, and a Make-and-Take night gives them an immediate tool they can use at home to support essential literacy skills. The process of making these activities keeps both students and parents positively engaged while having fun with activities to practice reading comprehension, decoding, fluency, and vocabulary. Parents and students love to attend “Make and Take” Literacy night! To keep this product affordable, the purchase of this product includes a grade level license. For additional grade levels or schools, please purchase additional licenses at 50% off.
In this packet, I walk you through the planning of a Literacy Night at your school, whether you are inviting just your class, or several grade levels. I’ve even included a “blurb” about the event to use in your newsletter, class website, etc. It can be difficult to plan what materials are needed, so I’ve included a list for each station.
I’ve included oodles of printables at the end of this book to use for reminders, documentation, and even a reward for students who attend. A Literacy Night can be a great opportunity for community collaboration, too! Remember to take tons of pictures/video for your professional portfolio.
I’ve been organizing Literacy Night at my schools for many years, so I created my own activities to share with teachers in third, fourth, and fifth grade to keep the connection between home and school strong throughout the upper elementary years. I hope this benefits your students as much as it has benefited mine over the years! If you share photos from your event on social media, please tag @hellomrssykes (Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook) so I can cheer you on!
