This Literacy Record Sheet works well for students to travel through literacy centers independently. Have students keep all their work in a literacy folder with the Literacy Record Sheet on top. A simple rubric is provided for students to reflect on their own work/effort daily, assigning and giving themselves a grade. At the end of the week, students collect all of their literacy assignments and attach the literacy record sheet. Students them reflect in their work and give themselves an overall grade for the week including an explanation for why. This tool helps to keep literacy center assignments centrally located and helps students become responsible for the grades that they earn in class. I like to read their reasoning are a grade then, I either agree, or provide a rationale for how they could improve. Sometimes, this tool great for mini-conferences with students, and helps to create an environment of intrinsic learners!
