Middle school students are still learning HOW to write well and they need strategies! These strategies, designed especially for Middle School, can be used in ELA as well as all content areas to foster common language and help students transfer their writing skills to all classes and subject areas.
I use these tools and strategies every day with 7th and 8th graders, but especially frequently in Title I classes, Academic Intervention Services, and tutoring. They also make great tools to give to parents so that students have effective strategies to use at home.
Using these posters and strategies in all content areas encourages students to transfer their writing skills to all classes and gives teachers common language when discussing writing expectations with students.
