If it does they keep both cards, if not they turn the cards back over and the next child has a turn. The person who has the most matches wins the game. Match Game: Children can play in partners or by self matching the two rhyming words on the cards.

Monster Love Ten Frame Roll and Cover: Print & Laminate all Cards Choose a Love Monster and who will roll first. Roll one die and count your dots. Place that many counters on your ten frame . Continue taking turns rolling and placing your counters. The first person who cover both their ten frames wins!

Washington & Lincoln Nonfiction Organizers: After reading the books “ The Story of George Washington” & “The Story of Abraham Lincoln” and other books about the presidents have students fill out this nonfiction organizer with 3 facts they have learned about each of the presidents. Students must include a topic and concluding sentences about the president. At the bottom of the sheet students write out their facts and conclusion into sentences to make a paragraph. This paragraph can be typed up to make a classroom book or a student display. Note; You could just have students pick either Lincoln or Washington instead of doing them both.

Washington & Lincoln Venn Diagram :
After reading the stories a few times, students compare and contrast the two presidents. This can be done as a whole group or will older students in a center or during worktime.

“George Washington “ or “Abraham Lincoln” Fact Student Booklet: Copy and assemble each of the booklets for each student. There are two booklet pages to each sheet, one about Washington and one about Lincoln . You can copy as many pages as you would like students to do. Students fill in the blank of each president page and then draw a picture of what they wrote.

Washington & Lincoln Art Project:
Copy and assemble Presidents using the directions and template page in unit. Hang presidents in hallway or in the classroom for decorations. I have included a little sign that students can attach to their presidents that they can write a fact about each president.

Presidents Real & Nonsense Word Sort:
Children place cards face down and take turns drawing a card. Student reads words and decides whether it is a real word or nonsense words. Child checks with partner or group to make sure he/she is accurate. Child writes words on t-chart on white board or use sheet provided in this resource (each student may have a sheet or you could use one sheet for the whole game). The next person takes a turn. Play until all cards have been used.

President More, Less , or Equal Clip Game: Children place a paper clip or clothes pin to the correct answer; more than, less than or equal to. Note: Put a little sticker on the back of card in the correct answer space so students can self-correct their answers.
