Resource Directions:

September Writing Station Words: Print and laminate a few colored copies of the September Writing Station words for students to use or copy one sheet for each student to put in their writing folder or journal.

Pete the Cat Story Parts: (2 types): After reading the story a few times, have students fill out the story Parts organizer, naming and drawing each of the parts of the story in the appropriate box..

Pete the Cat Story Retelling :
(2 types): After reading the story a few times, have students fill out the story retelling organizer, putting the story in sequential order, beginning, middle and end. They can either draw or write their answers on the sheet in the appropriate box.

“What Have You Lost? “ Classroom Book:
Copy cover on cardstock and then copy the student sheet for each student and have them write and draw what they have lost before. Collect each student paper and make classroom book binding or stapling book together.

“How Many Buttons” Student Booklet: Students color and write their numbers practicing their color and number words. You can copy the pages on regular paper, they are printed so you can copy back to back to make individual student booklets.

Button and No Button Graphs: (2 types): Copy this sheet for each student and have them record how many people in their class are wearing clothes with buttons and those who do not have any buttons. Chart number using either of the graphs provided.

Pete the Cat Art Project: Have students make their own Pete the Cat using the templates, colored paper and buttons. This project can be done as a center, or with a parent or buddy help with younger students.

Button CVC Make a Word Game: Copy word cards and Vowel buttonsvon cardstock. Students insert vowels buttons onto line on the word cards and make words. Students can write words on white boards or paper or I have included two Make A Word sheets for students to write their words on.

Button Mats: Use these button mats with students to help them with their one-to-one correspondence and counting skills. Print and laminate the cards so students can place the correct number of buttons that corresponds with the numeral on the page and also practice writing the numerals with markers.

“Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See” Organizer: (3 types): After reading the story a few times, have students fill out the story retelling organizer, putting the story in sequential order. They can either draw or write their answers on the sheet in the appropriate box.

“School, School What Do You See?” Classroom Book: Copy cover on cardstock and then copy the student sheet for each student and have them write and draw the color of something they see at school. Collect each student paper and make classroom book binding or stapling book together.

“I See” Student Booklet: Copy and assemble each of the “I See: booklets for each students . There are two booklet pages to each sheet with one cover and 8 color pages.. You can copy as many pages as you would like students to do. Students write down something they see of that color and then draw the item on the page with that color.

Brown Bear Art Project:
Have students make their own brown bear. using paper plates,, paint and construction paper cutouts. This project can be done as a center, or with parent or buddy help with younger students.

Animal Match Colors Game:
Students match the colored animal cards. This card games can be used for center, group or individual work time and include the following games:

I See a Word Game: Laminate and cut out the magnify glasses and letter cards. You can cut out the holes of the magnify glasses after they have been laminated. Students place a letter card inside the magnify glass to make a word with the word family on the handle of the lens. Students can read the words, write them on white boards, or I have provided sheets for them to write real and not real words or short vowel words.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear Sequence /Number Order Game: Students put the characters of the story in sequential order. I have a set with numerals on them and one without.
