I used this activity after teaching literal equations to reinforce the idea that we can isolate any variable in the formula.
I printed these cards on cardstock. I gave each student a card - on the front is the literal equation and the back tells them what to solve for. I had them work on their own, then when everyone was finished they found their literal equation around the room where they met up with their group (of 3 or 4). Each student wrote their answer for the variable they had solved for below the formula, and their group discussed whether they agreed or disagreed with their group members. Then, I had them rotate twice and look at the work the other groups had done and whether they agreed or disagreed. If they disagreed I allowed them to write their answer next to the original. We then got back together as a class and talked about the ones that had been corrected.
During this activity, I heard one student say "This will help me with science!!" :) Yayyy for making connections!!
Answer key is included.
