This is a step-by-step guideline for students to write a literary analysis. It is generic in that it is not specific to a piece of literature, allowing you the freedom of tailoring it to your curriculum. It includes an overview of the structure of the essay, as well as tips for Do's and Don'ts of writing a literary analysis.
Planning Guide for Students:
A simple, yet effective planning guide for students to outline their analysis before writing. This allows students to organize their thoughts and make sure they include all major components of the essay.
Also included is a detailed rubric for students to understand what you are looking for. This also provides you with a clear and fair way to assess the students' final products.
It is assumed that students already have a working knowledge of various literary elements (e.g. foreshadow, symbolism).
These are uploaded as Word Docs, allowing you to easily modify them to meet your specific needs.
