I have identified thirteen literary devices that students can identify while watching the cartoon version (29 minute DVD) of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" which I am offering in a separate file, complementary. This activity serves as a fun review of literary devices prior to breaking for the Christmas holiday. I found it easier to assign one or two terms to each student rather than having them try to listen and watch for all thirteen. After viewing the film, students who have the same terms may share answers before sharing out with the class. Here is a time-saving key to correspond with the activity.
