As a fun form of review during the year and before exams, my English class play's Literary Devices Jeopardy using the Smart-board. There are 24 literary device terms in this jeopardy and this is a great way to review terms that are used all year long like Simile, Personification, Onomatopoeia, Hyperbole, Irony etc.
I break the class up into 3 teams and give each team an Easy Button as a buzzer. I usually choose one or two students to keep score and lead the game on the Smartboard. You can have students use their notes for reference or not.
At the beginning of the year, students get a PowerPoint presentation on these literary terms in which they take notes in a pre-made colored booklet (this ensures these papers stand out in their binder. I use a different color for each set of important notes). You can find the presentation and notes package at my store under Literary Devices PowerPoint Presentation and Literary Devices Notes Booklet.
