Writers use various literary devices to make their writing more vivid and thought provoking. This is an interactive digital resource for Google Drive.
Although there are many different types of literary devices, the five that follow are used most frequently and are the most common: Simile, Metaphor, Alliteration, Personification, and Hyperbole.
Learning to recognize these 5 literary devices and to write original examples of them will give your students’ understanding of literature and their writing skills a new level of sophistication.
This exercise has 20 multiple choice questions and opportunities for students to write the five literary devices. The answers are provided for your convenience.
Instead of printing the pages and distributing them to students, you can give them a link to each page and they can view the digital slide in their Google Drive and record their answers on Google Slides. Students can submit their work to you however you wish.
