The Drama Understanding and Depth Guide is a graphic organizer that will allow students in grades 3-6 to analyze a drama selection to the depth and rigor of the STAAR in Texas. The guide allows students to :
Identify and distinguish between different points of view
Comprehend the story structure (Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then)
Infer character roles, descriptions, and relationships
Evaluate characters actions
Synthesis their own actions in the selection.
Describe how stage directions reveal character thoughts, actions, and feelings
Identify how lighting cues and props impact the setting, characters, and conflict, and resolution
Compare and contrast two scenes
This guide works well with a drama selection that has characters with a conflict. To use, pair this guide with a literary drama or passage. Have students read the selection and then complete this guide. Then, students should complete any questions with the selection.
If you are looking for more depth than just practice questions before the STAAR, this is great for test prep.
