Update your old literary elements presentations with this highly engaging Slide Rocket. Middle School students enjoy reviewing basic terminology including setting, mood, dynamic character, conflict, plot, and theme by analyzing film clips like Men in Black and excerpts from popular books like Holes by Louis Sachar. Each set of slides acts as a mini-lesson, so this presentation could be done over the course of several days or in one 90 minute block. It allows you the flexibility you need. My 6th grade students' favorite mini-lesson is charting the plot sequence using the Pixar short "Knick Knack." My most important critics, my students, have told me time and again how much they enjoy this presentation stating, "We have fun learning!" Enjoy.
