I designed this graphic organizer for my students to use as we learned how to write literary essays along with the Lucy Calkin's Teacher's College unit. There are places for the students to write notes about their introduction, their evidence and explanation, and sentence stems for claims, evidence, and explanations built in for them to refer to as they are writing. I did make some changes in the structure of the conclusion, following a parallel to the introduction.
NOTE: This is a graphic organizer only - it would not be useful without the mini-lessons and structure taught in the Literary Essay units. It is a supplement only.
