The PowerPoint consists of 18 slides with terms, defintions, examples, and interactive video and activity tasks, 15 in total, that students must complete. It can be given as direct instruction or as homework (recommened as a two-day HW assignment) and then reviewed in class. It covers the elements of: plot, conflict (man vs self, man vs man, man vs society, man vs. nature), point of view (first person, third person limited/omnisicient), irony (verbal, dramatic, and situational), the difference between foreshadowing and flasback, and symbolism. The test is a multiple level thinking task test consisting of 19 multiple choice questions (Cosa's level 1-2), 8 scenario application questions (Costa's level 2), and a charting elements from reading task with example (worth 15 points).
