An assessment to give students when first testing their knowledge of literary elements and devices. The first section is matching, does student know what each word means? The second section is reading a selection and being able to indicate which parts of the section shows specific elements/devices (characterization, imagery, etc.) Students are prompted to use text to support responses. Can use this several times throughout year as data for instructional decision making.
Tests students ability to recognize literary term in general and also recognize tem in an actual passage.
