This activity can be used as either an introduction or a review to a literary terms unit. Students will create posters with student friendly definitions to 10 literary terms: simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, assonance, rhyme, etc. The first activity has students move from one poster to another, adding examples that fit the student definition. The second activity is a sorting and matching activity that asks students to match a literary term with an example. There is an exit card to use at the end of the lesson to assess understanding and help select information to review during the next lesson. The posters make great class room decor and serve as reminders about literary devices throughout the year.
