This is a great review activity for Literary Terms and Devices. Provide students with a copy of a text you are reading in class. Give students a set amount of time to locate examples of the terms. When time is up (15-20 minutes works well), give them 5 minutes to add up their total number of points. The team with the most points wins! As an extension or accountability piece there is a chart for students to provide examples of what they found. This could be used as an assessment for the activity. You can also laminate the boards and reuse them throughout the year. You can “narrow” down your focus depending on the text and what you have focused on in class. Simply have them circle what you want them to find. Amazing tool and resource for identifying the terms students are learning in texts they enjoy. You can use this throughout the year!! Great for test prep or as a Literacy Center.
