PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Looking for a fun way to review some literary devices/terms with your students? Try this assignment!

Students are first taught a series of literary devices (metaphor, simile, foreshadowing, paradox, irony, etc.) Then they are tasked to create a dating profile for a person (fiction or non-fiction) of their choosing.

They must incorporate at least six different literary devices into their dating ad. The assignment contains an example I did on Spongebob Squarepants. The assignment also comes with a worksheet for students to plan their assignment and two rubrics.

I find that the kids love this assignment! They generally have fun with it and it can get pretty funny! It also gets them to apply what they've learned.

As I teach in Ontario, the two rubrics follow the Ontario curriculum. (Media and Writing strand.)
