Goals:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.- Grades 1-12 have common core goals concerning THEME.
What is theme?
The central idea or motif explored in a literary work. It can be expressed either directly or indirectly.
Materials: optional: binder, sheet protectors, bulletin board
Directions: Print the pages.
You may choose to use these pages as a bulletin board, as binder pages, or in any other way you see fit.
I think I will use them in a binder for my first graders to refer to as needed. I'll use a 1" binder and sheet protectors. As we identify themes in the stories we read we will write the titles and evidence on the matching theme page in the class binder. Only the teacher will write in the binder book. Kids can use the black and white sheets to record their thoughts.
It would also be great if you have the space for a bulletin board, and you could add images of the book covers for a great visual.
For older grades you could line these up at the top of your classroom wall for a nice "crown molding" look. ;0)
