This handout is designed to help students who already have some background in basic theses develop their critical thinking and analytical writing skills so they can move from the basic, simplistic thesis to one that is complex, sophisticated and most importantly reflective of a mature, investigative line of thought. Included is a five-page handout that provides extensive reference and explanation on what constitutes strong introductions and theses and what pitfalls to avoid. Examples and checklists are also included on the handout. This handout can be used alone or with other materials as an excellent reference for students. It also can be used with the worksheet designed for it that is available in my TPT store. The worksheet, providing extensive practice on analyzing and writing theses, is based on "The Story of an Hour," and can be purchased alone, or the worksheet and this handout can be purchased together as a bundle for lower price.
These materials can be used for direct teaching, reference for students, homework, or perhaps most effectively, as tools in a workshop on thesis writing.
