Task for this rubric: Students read a short story and determine a theme based on a lesson that the main character learns. They interpret this lesson into a bigger life lesson that they could take with them. Students generate a strong response that includes text evidence from several parts of the text to support their ideas.

W.4.9, W.4.3.C, L.4.2
It's a clear student friendly rubric & describes the expecations of the student.
I've used this several times throughout the school year when needing a reading bulletin board and/or a quick assessment of a small group/individual/whole class that has been working on theme/lessons.
