Do you need a fresh idea to get kids excited about reading?
This project-based book study asks students to write a brief report on a fictional story. A story map is included to help guide understanding.
Students are also asked to construct a Literature Box. On the top of the box they include the title of the book and the name of the author. On each side of the box students draw, color, and caption a scene from the beginning, the middle, and the end of the story.
Additionally, students are asked to include artifacts as a way to retell the story. They place 3-5 items inside the box to represent people, places, things, and ideas from the book.
Students orally present their work to classmates or others.
A scoring rubric is included.
This project is aligned to the common core and easily allows for differentiation.
