Description
This set of activities is very versatile and can be used with any novel or book that you use wiht literature circle or for a novel study. Differentiated activities engage students and require higher-level thinking. They're more than "rote worksheets." Students will also be accountable for their work with the BONUS evaluation sheets and the rubric included. Students can work in groups, independently, in pairs, or can complete the activities as homework. Many of the activities can be used beyond literature circles or novel studies and in shared reading, literacy centers, or in other ways that work in your classroom.
It's often hard to keep students on task when the teacher is meeting with a different group. Hopefully, these activities can solve that problem.
Activities can be completed individually or in groups. They are versatile enough that any level of group could use them. There are lots of materials included that can easily be kept in folders. When done, they look great on a bulletin board and give other students an opportunity to preview books they haven't read. This set also works well for book clubs and centers.
All Items (with bonus materials) included are:
- An introduction of activities and materials included and how they can be implemented and organized
- Literature circle tic-tac-toe activity board to introduce activities
- Character Map
- Story Map
- Word Search Activity
- Illustration Summary Activity
- Acrostic Poem Activity
- Interview Questions and Answers Activity
- Book Recommendation Activity
BONUS MATERIALS that are related to literature circles but are not activities:
- Student Job Checklist
- Literature Circle Student Evaluation Form (pre-filled and blank)
- Literature Circle Group Folder Label sheets for organization
