I have created an easy-to-use resource for implementing book clubs in your classroom. After searching for something to use in my own classroom and not finding anything I loved, I decided to create my own. It is a collection of bookmarks that require students to assume the role of a different "job" each meeting. Each job can be used for any section of any book you decide. It explains the task of each job and provides space for students to respond to the text. This resource includes three different things.
1. Directions for how to implement and run the book club. This is helpful for kids to have out while meeting with their book club group. It will help them stay on track and guide the discussions.
2. A collection of NINE jobs for students to do while reading an assigned section.
-Discussion Director (creates questions for discussion & leads group discussion)
-Systematic Story Mapper (creating a graphic organizer)
-Commenting Critic (evaluating text)
-Artful Artist (illustrating)
-Creative Connector (making connections to text)
-Summary Supplier (creates summary of text)
-Verbal Vocabulist (defines vocab from text)
-Passage Picker (important quotes)
-Fact Finder (researches real-world topics in text)
3. Assignment Sheet to keep track of date, pages read, and jobs.
