These literature circle sheets could be used for any lit circles, and were designed to teach skills outlined in the common core standards. The specific roles are Interpreter, Discussion Leader, Summarizer, Evidence Examiner, and Connector. Each role is targeting a specific skill and has an attached rubric so students clearly know what their target is. There is also an attached rubric for the discussion portion of this activity. Lit circles are no longer just for the "experience", but can be scored and reflected upon so that students can grow and improve on their discussion skills.
This file also includes discussion questions for the book Divergent, by Veronica Roth. I've also included a lit circle role organizer so that students (and teachers) are not stressed about the logistics of organizing literature circles, as well as a teacher cheat-sheet, explaining how I set this up in the classroom and how I went about scoring students.
I use standards-based grading in my classroom, so these rubrics are taken directly from the 19 objectives of my SBG scoring guides which can also be found on this site. However, they are very user friendly, and you do not have to be using SBG to use this material. (you can see some of the actual rubrics in the preview).
