This literature circle packet features the following:
-an attractive cover page
-an introduction to literature circles with questions and answers regarding expectations
-a list of procedures for students to follow during meetings
-two blank sheets for each role (summarizer, word wizard, literary luminary, discussion director, and connector)
Just print, copy, and give out! You can have students fill in the dates, chapters, and roles, or you can do this before you copy it. Also, you may want to insert a blank page AFTER the cover sheet before you place it into the document feeder if you want the packet to have an even number of pages and for the role sheets to be the same role double-sided.
The cover is available for free on my page so that you may customize it. The blank calendar is also available for free in case you want to type in information and/or add more meetings.
-Go through each novel and choose the number of chapters per meeting for classes or groups that might spend too much time on this during their first meeting.
-Make it a rule that a role may only be used once per meeting, and never twice in a row. If you do 8 meetings, you will not use all 10 role sheets. There needs to be a rotation.
-Have the procedure for meetings up on the SmartBoard and tell students to reference their packets. The routine will start to become familiar after a meeting or two.
-Note that WORK DUE means that the work is due on that date! Make this evident to students more than once for best results.
