Literature Circles are a great way to incorporate collaborative learning and student talk in your classroom (hello Common Core!) This packet includes 6 different student roles that focus on key reading strategies:

Students can be grouped together by level or interest and use these response sheets to lead their own round table book discussions. These response sheets work especially well with chapter books because students can take on new roles for each chapter. Just assign each student a role prior to reading and hand out the corresponding response sheets for them to complete as they read. When the students meet with their groups, these sheets really help guide their discussions. It is amazing to watch your students have these deep book discussions INDEPENDENTLY!
I've also included role signs that students can wear during their literature circles. The signs come in two different sizes. The smaller size can be printed two to a page. The larger size allows you to print each role on a different colored paper to make them standout.
