One of my students' favorite reading activities is literature circles. It gives them an opportunity to take ownership and leadership in their reading and holds them accountable for their own learning! Such a great student-centered structure in the classroom.
This pack includes 6 tried-and-true literature circle task cards, each on a half-sheet. Students record their task in a journal or notebook paper to be turned in after they share with their group. My students rotate tasks after each literature circle meeting, and they LOVE it! They look forward to sharing and adding to the group discussions.
The task cards include:
*Literature Circle Leader
Each task card has a description of their task for that particular selected text. These can be used throughout a novel study or simply used with shorter books and exchanged from time to time.
In my classroom, I laminated them and have enough for each group member to have one. If groups have less than six students, you can modify by leaving certain tasks out each week.
Again, these cards are just wonderful. I make sure the students keep them in their folders and return them with their tasks. They know to protect them like gold! ;-)
Have fun and enjoy!!
