This is a literature circle note taking sheet. As your students are working n their literature circles, you can walk around and take notes about how each group is doing. This will do a few things. First, this will help the students to stay on task. If students see you walking around with a clip board and see you writing something down, whether it is positive or negative, they will be more likely to stay on task. Secondly instead of just assessing students "visually" you will have actual data to refer to. This is so important when giving students participation grades. Third this document will also help you to remember a point that was made in on group that you would like to share with the entire class. By having recorded what was going on within the groups you will also be able to ensure that any mandated modifications for students are being met (IEP RtI 504 etc). Any time students are working in self-sufficient groups it is always best if you can walk around the room and record what is going on in each group. That way you have all of the data that you could possibly need.
